Husqvarna Group Boosts Operational Efficiency with Azure Adaptive Cloud
Husqvarna Group
Swedish manufacturer Husqvarna Group deployed Azure Arc, Azure IoT Operations, and Azure OpenAI Service to unify its fragmented public cloud, hybrid, and on-premises factory infrastructure and enable real-time data insights across its global manufacturing network. The rollout achieved 98% faster data deployment and 50% lower infrastructure imaging costs. Using Azure OpenAI Service, the company also built Factory Companion, an AI chatbot that gives factory teams instant troubleshooting guidance based on historical maintenance data and machine documentation, moving maintenance from reactive toward predictive.
FraportGPT Leads the Way to the Airport of the Future: Fraport Makes Employees' Daily Tasks Easier with Azure OpenAI Service
Fraport AG
Fraport AG, operator of Frankfurt Airport, launched FraportGPT, a company-wide employee chatbot built on Azure OpenAI Service, as its first step toward automating operations ahead of an expected 30 percent workforce reduction through aging alongside 30 percent planned growth. Programmers use it to draft code statements, lawyers use it to summarize long texts, and administrative staff use it for emails and letters and even rental-pricing formulas. Fraport plans to connect FraportGPT to in-house data sources next to further increase efficiency.
Raiffeisen Bank International Launches Its Own ChatGPT Using Azure OpenAI Service
Raiffeisen Bank International
Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI), a cooperative bank headquartered in Vienna, Austria serving 16.5 million customers in 11 markets, built 'RBI ChatGPT' using Azure OpenAI Service and Azure AI Search within Azure AI Foundry, with Azure AI Content Safety for content moderation. The tool automates repetitive tasks like documenting intelligence and summarizing legal, regulatory and banking documents, and supports line leveling in reconciliation reporting, extracting and summarizing public news articles and financial reports, drafting emails, and answering regulatory questions. RBI ChatGPT was first deployed to 2,000 users and now has an active user base of over 20,000. A feature called 'yellowGPTs' lets employees contribute their own solutions and dedicated knowledge bases built on the platform. RBI is also experimenting with tying the o1 model on Azure OpenAI Service into its application framework.
Siemens Industrial Copilot expanded, adopted by thyssenkrupp
thyssenkrupp Automation Engineering / Siemens
thyssenkrupp Automation Engineering integrated the Siemens Industrial Copilot for Engineering into a battery machine used for battery quality inspections on electric cars, and plans to use the genAI-powered assistant at scale engineering machines at thyssenkrupp's global locations from 2025 onwards. The Copilot assists engineers in creating TIA Portal projects, developing structured control language (SCL) code faster for programmable logic controllers, integrating code into TIA Portal, and generating machine visualization in WinCC Unified, reducing repetitive tasks like data management and sensor configuration. Separately, the Siemens Electronics Factory in Erlangen, Germany implemented the Copilot for Operations across its soldering machines, helping operators and maintenance engineers translate machine error codes into natural language and suggest solutions, reducing machine downtime and production bottlenecks. The Industrial Copilot for Operations is planned to be offered as an on-premises hardware-software bundle with the Simatic Industrial PC, powered by NVIDIA NIM microservices, so no internet connection is required and data is processed and stored on local shopfloor hardware. Natural language processing is carried out via Azure OpenAI Service on Microsoft Cloud.
Schneider Electric fast-tracks innovation with Azure OpenAI Service
Schneider Electric
Schneider Electric bases customer-facing AI solutions on Azure OpenAI Service within Microsoft Cloud for Manufacturing. Its EcoStruxure Microgrid Advisor uses Azure OpenAI Service and Azure IoT for dynamic control of facility energy performance, EcoStruxure Resource Advisor Copilot helps customers manage energy usage, and the company is developing a PLC code generation copilot to automate programmable logic controller programming for manufacturing robots and IoT devices.
Novo Nordisk builds AI drug discovery platform on Azure with Microsoft Research
Novo Nordisk
Novo Nordisk partnered with Microsoft Research to build an AI platform on Azure AI and data stacks spanning regulatory affairs, early research, drug discovery and trial design, using Azure OpenAI Service, Azure Cosmos DB and Azure Kubernetes Service, with Power BI and Power Apps for collaboration. The platform includes a copilot for researchers, shared reasoning-chain templates, and governance/auditing of how data and models are used. The teams published early results on predictive AI models for cardiovascular disease risk detection, including an algorithm that Novo Nordisk says predicts patients' cardiovascular risk better than the best clinical standards, drawing on more than 100 years of insulin research data.
HARTING reduces design time from weeks to minutes with Siemens and Azure AI
HARTING
HARTING, a German maker of industrial connectors with more than 27,000 product options, built an AI-guided Han® Configurator powered by Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service and Microsoft Cloud for Manufacturing that lets customers describe requirements in natural language and get guided to the right product in about one minute, down from 15-20 minutes. For custom designs, a companion tool built by HARTING's Innovation Hub interoperates with Siemens' NX and Simcenter (part of Siemens Xcelerator) to refine 2D layouts, generate 3D models and run basic thermal FEM simulations, cutting custom prototype creation from weeks to minutes.
