Val Verde Unified School District uses Microsoft Copilot to speed up IT and business operations
Val Verde Unified School District
Val Verde Unified School District, a Southern California district of 19,000 students, piloted Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT across administrative and business departments after its Board of Education directed staff to test generative AI. Director of Information and Instructional Technology Matt Penner used Copilot as a code assistant to fine-tune a custom state-reporting application that integrates data from the student information system, finishing the task in five hours instead of ten. About 150 employees were testing the AI tools, including HR staff improving job interview questions and staff summarizing hundreds of unopened emails into a manageable list.
How Schibsted is using AI to boost efficiency for their newsrooms and their readers
Schibsted
Schibsted Media (Norway) uses generative AI across its newsrooms via several tools: a suggested-stories feature at VG that maintains an 85% thumbs-up ratio comparable to lead stories; Videofy, an in-house service that generates 20-second news videos instantly from published articles, integrated into its Content Management System; and ARIA, an AI framework of specialised agents that lets staff query real-time compiled data through platforms like Slack. Journalists also use an AI toolbox, built by a journalist rather than the AI team, to generate potential questions and answers around articles using models including Claude and GPT.
