Berenberg's AI journey began in 2018 with traditional ML for portfolio management, then in 2022 the bank built BegoChat, a custom AI assistant on Vertex AI, to aggregate and analyze broker reports, company filings, and news for equity portfolio managers, infused with Berenberg's proprietary investment frameworks. A similarly built tool generates the bank's daily 'Morning Mail' market briefing, with AI assistance producing content 85-90% faster with human review for quality and compliance. Berenberg later adopted NotebookLM for an 'Everyday AI' layer of document summarization, translation, and comparison, and is now rolling out Gemini Enterprise (formerly AgentSpace) across the bank starting in 2026, giving employees a marketplace of centrally managed generic and role-specific agents (Research, financial analysis, Due Diligence support).
