Problem
OUH wanted to let its 18,500+ network users experiment with generative AI safely and compliantly, without staff turning to public tools that risked leaking Trust data, and needed to justify cost and value before wider NHS rollout.

Solution
OUH rolled out Microsoft 365 Copilot starting January 1, 2024 to just over 4% of users, ran drop-in sessions and built a centre of excellence with Microsoft so staff could share prompts and use cases (meeting summarisation, document drafting, intelligent search, Excel VBA generation, Power Apps scoping), and is now developing personas and governance processes before expanding further, including into clinical-adjacent uses like patient-leaflet redrafting.
