Jabil builds an intelligent shop floor assistant on Amazon Q Business, giving operators instant access to troubleshooting information

Jabil, a global manufacturing and supply chain company with over 100 sites and 140,000 employees, developed an intelligent shop floor assistant -- a chatbot powered by generative AI on Amazon Q Business -- with support from AWS's Generative AI Innovation Center. The assistant gives manufacturing floor operators instant access to troubleshooting and diagnostic information, drawing on relevant documents, incident tickets, and knowledge articles from multiple systems. The first iteration was built in one week, with additional data sources integrated over following weeks. Since launch, the assistant has provided employees globally with real-time access to over 1,700 policies, manufacturing specifications, and troubleshooting documents in various languages, reducing average troubleshooting time and improving diagnostic accuracy. Jabil went on to build two further Amazon Q Business-powered assistants, an Intelligent Customer Research Assistant and an Intelligent Procurement Assistant.
