PostNL wanted to move from a traditional postal and parcel operator to a digitally driven, data-powered logistics platform, embedding AI throughout operations to improve route planning, parcel flow, and capacity forecasting, while its small business customer onboarding process in Belgium took 15-20 days to register.

PostNL embedded predictive algorithms across operations to support real-time route planning, parcel flow optimisation and capacity forecasting, and introduced digital workforce-planning tools to balance workloads. Commercially, a new AI-powered sales intelligence tool converts ideal customer profiles into prioritised prospect lists with detailed shipment insights for account managers, and in Belgium PostNL piloted a fully digital onboarding journey for small business customers. New concepts are tested and scaled through the PostNL Innovation Studio, which discontinues those that fail to meet customer or commercial thresholds.
