Fastweb + Vodafone: Transforming Customer Experience with AI Agents using LangGraph and LangSmith
Fastweb + Vodafone · Italy
Fastweb + Vodafone, part of the Swisscom Group and one of Europe's leading telecommunications providers serving millions of customers across Italy, built two AI agent systems on LangChain and LangGraph. Super TOBi transforms its existing chatbot TOBi into an agentic system using a Supervisor agent (for routing and guardrails) and specialized Use Case agents following the LLM Compiler pattern to call customer APIs and execute transactional actions like offer activation or payment updates. Currently serving nearly 9.5 million customers through the Customer Companion App and voice channels, Super TOBi achieves a 90% correctness rate, an 82% resolution rate, and a Customer Effort Score of 5.2 out of 7. Super Agent is an internal tool that augments call center consultants with diagnostics and guidance, storing operational knowledge as a graph in Neo4j and using an automated ETL pipeline with LangGraph and LLM agents to convert business-authored procedures into the knowledge graph; it has driven One-Call Resolution rates above 86%. The company uses LangSmith for observability, daily automated evaluation of chatbot responses, and continuous improvement.

The challenge
Customer service in telecommunications operates at massive scale with complex, interconnected challenges: customers require immediate assistance with billing inquiries, service activations, roaming questions, and technical support, often expecting resolution within a single interaction. Traditional TOBi struggled with nuanced requests that required contextual understanding, multiple system access, and end-to-end resolution. For call center consultants, the manual process of consulting multiple systems and knowledge bases could benefit from intelligent support to further enhance the speed and consistency of the customer experience.
The solution
Fastweb + Vodafone built two AI agent systems on LangChain and LangGraph. Super TOBi transforms the existing chatbot TOBi into an agentic system using a Supervisor agent (for routing and guardrails) and specialized Use Case agents following the LLM Compiler pattern to call customer APIs and execute transactional actions like offer activation or payment updates. Super Agent is an internal tool that augments call center consultants with diagnostics and guidance, storing operational knowledge as a graph in Neo4j and using an automated ETL pipeline with LangGraph and LLM agents to convert business-authored procedures into the knowledge graph. The company uses LangSmith for observability and runs daily automated evaluation of chatbot responses.
Reported business value
Currently serving nearly 9.5 million customers through the Customer Companion App and voice channels, Super TOBi achieves a 90% correctness rate, an 82% resolution rate, and a Customer Effort Score of 5.2 out of 7. The use of generative AI in Super Agent has driven One-Call Resolution rates above 86%.

AI serves QoS & operational efficiency
Orange France deployed AI-based tools across its network operations to improve quality of service and operational efficiency, including the Recovisu diagnostic tool that helps technicians correct errors during interventions, automated frequency declarations with the National Frequency Agency, AI-driven preventive maintenance for equipment such as antenna batteries, and an AI-evaluated citizen infrastructure-damage-reporting app. The NRJ5G app analyzed consumption data to prevent unnecessary mobile site electrical subscription upgrades, saving nearly 48 million.
TELUS builds its Fuel iX generative AI platform on Google Cloud
Canadian telecom TELUS built Fuel iX, a proprietary generative AI platform on Google Cloud, giving more than 57,000 team members secure access to 40+ AI models, including Anthropic's Claude and Google's Gemini via Vertex AI. Employees have created over 13,000 custom AI solutions and 47 large-scale gen AI products, driving more than $90 million in benefits and 500,000+ hours of time savings to date, and TELUS's engineering teams now ship code 30% faster. TELUS extended Fuel iX to power its customer-facing GenAI support tool, which became the first gen AI tool in the world internationally certified in Privacy by Design.
Far EasTone Telecom (FET) is turning agentic AI into real operations impact
Far EasTone Telecom (FET), a Taiwanese operator, applied Microsoft's network operations agent (NOA) reference architecture to redefine cloud-native network operations by embedding agentic AI across its network operations center (NOC) and change-management workflows. Nearly 60% of FET's NOC operations are now AI-assisted, with about 10,500 operational tasks executed per month, including incident summaries, automated ticket closure, network checks, and proactive voice notifications. AI agents handle large-scale alarm correlation and root cause analysis in seconds, supporting nearly 7,000 monthly operational queries with an average response time of 16 seconds, and most maintenance actions complete within one minute, significantly reducing human error and accelerating recovery times.
