The challenge
Despite having over 70,000 employees, E.ON found managing contracts with public ChargePoint operators cumbersome, and its health and safety team needed better tools to analyze incident data and implement safety protocols. Working with high-voltage electricity is inherently dangerous, and the lack of real-time data insights made it difficult to prevent field incidents proactively.
The solution
E.ON turned to Databricks Apps to quickly build production-ready, secure internal applications on the Databricks Data + AI Platform. It developed a GenAI application to help process and extract contract details such as pricing and tariffs from public ChargePoint operator contracts, letting employees search and analyze contracts using natural language queries. Using Databricks Apps, E.ON's health and safety team also built interactive dashboards enriched with maps of incident locations and weather conditions to monitor real-time incident data.
