Apollo is trained on a specialized corpus of 600 million words of historical Greek text plus tens of thousands of published inscriptions and papyri, helping researchers reconstruct damaged texts and identify thematic connections across collections. The OeAW reports Apollo turns work that once took years into hours, addressing over one million unread Greek papyri worldwide, with future phases planned for semantic search and handwritten inscription decipherment.

Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI), a cooperative bank headquartered in Vienna, Austria serving 16.5 million customers in 11 markets, built 'RBI ChatGPT' using Azure OpenAI Service and Azure AI Search within Azure AI Foundry, with Azure AI Content Safety for content moderation. The tool automates repetitive tasks like documenting intelligence and summarizing legal, regulatory and banking documents, and supports line leveling in reconciliation reporting, extracting and summarizing public news articles and financial reports, drafting emails, and answering regulatory questions. RBI ChatGPT was first deployed to 2,000 users and now has an active user base of over 20,000. A feature called 'yellowGPTs' lets employees contribute their own solutions and dedicated knowledge bases built on the platform. RBI is also experimenting with tying the o1 model on Azure OpenAI Service into its application framework.
UNIQA SEE cuts health insurance claims processing times by 90% with Azure AI

UNIQA SEE's claims handlers faced fragmented documents, manual tasks, and heavy call-center reliance that slowed claims processing. Using Microsoft Azure AI alongside Microsoft Foundry, Azure Document Intelligence, and Azure OpenAI, UNIQA SEE built an end-to-end AI-driven medical referral solution that extracts, validates, and integrates referral letter data via APIs into the core claims system. The solution reduced claims processing time from 15-30 minutes to 2-3 minutes (an 85-90% reduction), lowered costs and call volumes, and freed staff for higher-value work. UNIQA SEE also introduced a self-service web and mobile app allowing customers to submit medical referral letters digitally. UNIQA SEE became the first insurer in Southeastern Europe to implement an AI-powered business process solution of this kind.

City of Vienna increases efficiency of public services with innovative AI solution

Since 2023, Wien Digital, the City of Vienna's IT department, has worked with Red Hat to give the city's 70,000 employees access to WienKI (ViennaAI), an AI-based virtual assistant built on Red Hat OpenShift on premise and Microsoft Azure Red Hat OpenShift. WienKI answers employees' work-related questions from a growing knowledge base of digital documentation. The city follows the Vienna Manifesto on Digital Humanism and the EU AI Act, keeping a human in the loop to verify accuracy and make final decisions.
