Volkswagen Autoeuropa's Welding Online Monitoring System predicts weld failures

At Volkswagen's Autoeuropa plant in Palmela, Portugal, engineers developed the Welding Online Monitoring System for about €17,000 ($17,850), using a custom algorithm to analyze real-time operational data from welding guns. The system predicts abnormal behaviour and potential failure before quality problems appear on the production line.
