California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)
The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA, gives California consumers rights over the personal information businesses collect about them, including rights to know, delete, correct and limit use of that information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing, with protection from discrimination for exercising these rights.
Who it applies to
The CCPA applies to for-profit businesses that do business in California and meet any of the following: have gross annual revenue over $25 million; buy, sell, or share the personal information of 100,000 or more California residents or households; or derive 50% or more of their annual revenue from selling California residents' personal information. It generally does not apply to nonprofit organizations or government agencies.
